who is otherpoet?
my name is jacob, and i’m otherpoet. i started writing as an angst-filled, lonely teenager to cope with and find my way through my emotions. i started writing as a way to keep myself from sinking. to keep my head above the water. poetry and storytelling have become my way of fighting my demons. it is how i survive.
a little bit about me: i grew up in dayton, ohio. i attended college in chicago, where i first started writing shift. i moved back home for a year during the pandemic, but then moved to brooklyn, ny to continue the pursuit of my dreams.
publishing my work has been one of my dreams for a long time and without Levi the Poet, publishing may have remained a dream. he lit a fire in me and pushed me and encouraged me to share these words with the world.
the words i’ve written have kept me alive, and now i give them to you. i hope you will find your own space here. i hope you feel inspired. i hope you feel loved. i hope you find a way to keep going.

creative work has been my pursuit for more than five years. as a copywriter and producer, i’ve been lucky enough to tell captivating stories in the form of websites, commercials, films, and social media marketing. i love telling stories and i will forever pursue this craft.
the most important titles i have are brother and son. i wish i were better at both. i would be nowhere without my family. my mom is the first person to read all of my work. my brother is my inspiration. my baby sister is my heart.
